01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
About this place
Step up to the 3nd floor of the Sumiya Building and rows of glass jars behind the counter welcome you to Asakusayakushuba &. The main draw here is the extensive collection of house-infused yakushu and herbal liqueurs, steeped with botanicals, crude drugs, and spices. The menu thoughtfully lists each ingredient alongside tasting profiles and recommended mixers, turning the choice of a drink into an engaging personal ritual based on your mood or physical condition.
Mixers Tailored to Each Botanical
Shell ginger (getto), noted for its distinct aroma, is suggested on the rocks or lengthened with club soda or grapefruit juice. Sansho pepper, delivering its characteristic tingling numbness, can be enjoyed with tonic or soda, or even poured into beer. Other options include a vivid hibiscus tonic, aromatic cardamom, and cinnamon-scented keigi, each glass revealing a distinct aromatic profile.
A Full Bar Selection From Herbal Beer to Whisky
Beyond the herbal infusions, the bar pours Heartland draft alongside its original herb-infused beer, Mugizen, as well as an array of Scotch and bourbon whiskies and European herbal liqueurs. With both counter stools and table seating, settling in with a quietly poured glass is a distinct way to spend an evening in Asakusa.
